About  Sofia Dourvari

Sofia Dourvari is a Greek designer who moved to the UK in 2000. In 2001 Sofia studied for a BA (HONS) FASHION DESIGN at Salford University followed by a Postgraduate Diploma in Textile Technology. In 2007 Sofia won Best Designer at the International Student Festival (ISF) for best creative Design.

Sofia’s designs are heavily influenced by her Mediterranean roots. Her philosophy is to create elegant feminine designs that are creative, unusual and suitable for a wide range of occasions, from parties and galas to weddings and formal dinners. She likes to create timeless designs suitable for women of any age, using structure and colour to emphasize the woman’s shape.

Sofia’s passion for fashion design started when she was only nine years old. Initially influenced by theatrical costumes and corseted dresses she soon moved onto more modern shapes. As Sofia was brought up in Greece, her designs are mainly influenced by elements of Greek architecture. Not afraid of colour, Sofia uses it where possible and likes to add intricate details to garments to make them truly unique to the wearer. Her signature elements include fishtails, ruffles and gathers, flowing pieces, low back scoops and back details. Sofia has shown at both Manchester and Birmingham Fashion Weeks as well as London Fashion Week off Schedule which included her much-publicised show in February 2014 with British Supermodel Sophie Anderton opening and closing the show.
